Description
Interlyte-Ultra lightweight units are manufactured from
a blend of lightweight aggregates
and cement. It is a general purpose masonry unit of low
density and weight available in strength of 3.6 & 7.3N/mm2.
The standard unit has a textured face which is ideal for
plastering, rendering and drylining. Material colour is
light to dark grey. Application
Interlyte-Ultra units are suitable for use in the following
locations:
- Outer and Inner leaves of cavity walls with applicable
insulating material
- Internal partition walls, loadbearing or non-loadbearing,
solid units at 3.6N/mm2 & 7.3N/mm2 strength (see
physical properties for density required)
- Inner leaf of external walls below DPC (BS 5628: Part
3: 2001)
- Infill units for use in conjunction with concrete
beam floors

SITEWORK
Cutting, Chasing, Fixing
Cutting by mechanical means is recommended, thus reducing
wastage and achieving a
good well-bonded wall with nominal dimensioned joint work.
Chasing masonry units is laborious, however is permissible
to the limits set in BS 5628: Part 3. Clause 19.6 and
should be carried out using mechanical means with depth
guides. Where walls are
plastered or drylined, surface fixed plastic conduit strips
are recommended. For heavy cantilevered load fixings it
is recommended that 'chemical fixings’ should be
used.
Delivery Load Data
Prices quoted per 10 blocks (9.88 m2). All prices include
mechanical off loading and apply
to full loads. 15 tonne loads available with additional
surcharge. Part loads are subject to special quotation.
Interlyte-Ultra units are not considered suitable for
party wall
application. For guidance in which units can be used out
of the Interfuse range contact our Technical Department
or visit our website on www.interfuseblocks.com.
All U' Values must be calculated using the calculation
method BS EN ISO6946.
FINISHES
Internal Finishes
Plaster/Painting/Dry Lining
Lightweight Plaster, British Gypsum Carlite Browning backing
coat, 10mm thickness a
setting coat of Carlite Finishing Plaster 2-3mm thickness.
Dense Plaster backing coat
of 1:1:6 cement, lime, sand, 10mm with a setting coat
of gypsum plaster, sirapite or
similar, alternatively British Gypsums Hardwall Plaster.
Apply proprietary plaster in
accordance with manufacturers instructions.
Dry lining, all Gypsum wallboards fixed either with conventional
dabs or screw fixed to
metal firings in accordance with manufacturers instructions.
EXTERNAL FINISHES
Rendering, the surface must be treated with a spatterdash
coat of 1:1 cement and sand,
allow to dry white hard. Apply a backing coat of 1:1:6
cement, lime, sand ruled out and
scratched 10mm thick, a finishing coat of the same mix
5mm thick finished with a wood
float, which could have a colour additive, completes the
finish.
Quality Control
Interfuse Ltd operate a formalised QA system at both Syston
and Gainsborough plants.
All masonry units are subject to stringent quality control
checks and are tested daily in
our own laboratory.
A documented factory production control system is in operation
with regular checks made
on raw materials, production and finished units. A stock
control system is in operation
with written procedures for non-conforming products. All
products are produced to the
current European Standards.
Marking
Each pack is marked for traceability of product and unit
clarification as given on the
delivery ticket.
